Search Engine Optimisation Strategy
Recommended Approach
Phase 1 – Getting the Right Strategy
Technology Matters provides a report for you on the following:
- An optimisation strategy that is appropriate for the
technical architecture and system software employed on your
website.
- An agreed list of relevant search terms, for which
the web pages will be optimised. Selected search terms will be
determined by
- analysis of the website,
- competitor's site analysis,
- related words and synonyms,
- search term popularity,
- log file analysis,
- market emphasis, and
- relevance to your business.
- Site problems that may hinder the most effective
outcome, and what changes you need to make.
- A report showing the current ranking of your website
for the agreed search terms in the major search engines
- An estimate of costs and time-line for subsequent phases
Cost: Between AU$500 - $5,000 depending on the size. complexity and content depth of the website. Quotes for subsequent phases will be determined during Phase 1. Each Phase is self-contained and the client is under no obligation to undertake all phases (although we recommend that you do).
Phase 2 - Linking Campaign
Good rankings in many search engines are now influenced by the number of sites linking to the site to be optimised. This is particularly important in Google, which heavily weights its rankings in favour of popular websites (with many links pointing in).
Technology Matters will locate and encourage websites with related subject matter to link to your website. Webmasters are contacted and requested to place a link to the client's web site. Each successful link is then submitted to the search engines.
A report outlining the number of incoming links will be provided at the start of this Phase and two months from the completion of this Phase.
As no one can compel other sites to link to you, this work is undertaken on a "best effort" only basis.
Phase 3 – Optimise and Implement
During this Phase web pages are optimised for the agreed "search terms" (determined in Phase 1). Depending on the level of competition, to achieve rankings in the top 20, it may be necessary to optimise for the ranking algorithms of each individual search engine.
The page optimisation process focuses on refining the visible and invisible content of a website so that when a search engine analyses a website, it properly determines the site's theme and gives a high relevance score to related search terms.
Phase 4 – Register and Monitor
- Careful "hand submission" of all relevant optimised pages are carried out with the major engines and directories, along with automated submission to minor search engines.
- Ranking reports are delivered monthly for the first 3 months after submission.
- Optimised pages may require adjustment to improve rankings during this period. This maintenance program is included for the first three months of Phase 4.
- An ongoing maintenance strategy is presented at the end of this Phase.
