Search Engine Registration

What we look for BEFORE we register your website with the search engines…

Two warnings…

  • Don't be taken in by offers of submitting to 300,000 search engines for $59. If only it were that easy.
  • Many search engines refuse to follow links and index pages on dynamic websites. They "choke" on special characters like ?, =, and &. This means that your high technology website, often of many 1000's of pages and costing $100,000+ could well be a dead duck when it comes to being successfully indexed by a search engine.

If you have a dynamic website using special characters, call Technology Matters on (03) 9399 9054. We have the know-how to deal with this problem and push your website up the rankings.

We always do a review of your website before undertaking any search engine registration. There is no point in wasting your money on our time and search engine fees if your efforts are going to be wasted.

This is what we do:

  • Code check. Is the underlying code healthy?
  • Where are your keywords on the page? Is the code pushing your words (what the SE's index) so far down the page as to make it irrelevant? Are the page Title, Description tags and other Meta Data in place and appropriate?
  • Key word planning. Does your site reflect the best and most popular search terms for your page theme? Is it optimised?
  • Is the site dynamically generated and will it suffer from the SE's phobia of "special characters"? (see Two Warnings)
  • Usability and navigation. Is it "user friendly" and easy to navigate? Is it fast to load and well designed?
  • Does the "copy" close the sale? Are the products and services presented in a way that builds the desire of the visitor to purchase/ inquire/ join or whatever response it is that you seek?

What has navigation and "sales copy" got to do with search engine optimisation?

It's not strictly search engine related but it is about marketing and sales.

There is no point in driving large volumes of potential customers to your site if they are thwarted once they get there.

If your Internet project is to achieve its goals, this evaluation is a necessary part of the program.

"I think it is a sensational job, I’m very pleased... There is no way I could have done it myself either for the price, or in the timeframe, or produced such a professional website."
